Title:District Council Welcomes New Members

As the country settles down to a new majority Government, South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) also welcomes 15 new Councillors.

Last week district voters re-elected Andrea Leadsom MP as their representative in Westminster with 60.15 per cent of the vote.

The 15 new district councillors are:
• Simon Marinker (Cons) representing Astwell
• Hywel Davies (Cons) representing Blisworth and Roade
• Tony Bagot-Webb (Cons) representing Brackley East
• Alice Ord (Cons) representing Brackley South
• Fiona Baker (Cons) representing Brackley West
• Elaine Wiltshire (Cons) representing Brackley West
• Dennis Eric Loveland (Cons) representing Deanshanger
• Karen Elizabeth Cooper (Cons) representing Harpole and Grange
• Val Furniss (Cons) representing Middleton Cheney
• Richard Dallyn (Cons) representing Towcester Brook
• Catherine Tarbun (Lib Dem) representing Towcester Mill
• Charles Manners (Cons) representing Kinghorn ward
• Stephen Mold (Cons) representing Old Stratford
• John Budden (Cons) representing Salcey Forest
• Lizzy Bowen (Cons) representing Whittlewood

SNC consists of 42 councillors representing 27 wards. The political make-up of the council is now 35 Conservatives, four Liberal Democrats, and three independents.

Last week also saw voting in 13 contested parish and town council areas.

A new Council Leader will be elected by fellow members during the Annual Council Meeting on Wednesday, 20 May, who in turn will appoint the members of their Cabinet.
